Brady'), an agreement between the Standard Steel Car Company and the Maine Central RR to supply 5 all-steel flat bottom gondola cars for the sum of $1240, 2 pp, 4to, October 4, 1907, matted and framed to 405 x 840 mm. Provenance: Private Collection, Beverly Hills, California. Businessman and financier James Buchanan ('Diamond Jim') Brady was as famous for his appetite as for his tremendous success in the stock market. He started his career with the New York Central Railroad before pivoting to the railroad supply industry. In this contract, Brady signs on behalf of the Standard Steel Car Company, one of the largest builders of steel cars in the US at the time, to sell the Maine Central Railroad 5 gondola cars.
