Document Signed ('Leland Stanford'), unissued shares in Bodie Bluff Consolidation Mining Company, partially printed and accomplished in manuscript, 1 p, oblong 8vo (150 x 280 mm), Aurora, Mono County, CA, January 26, 1863, light creasing, recto signatures obscured, float-mounted and framed to 440 x 760 mm. Provenance: Private Collection, Beverly Hills, California. Leland Stanford began his career mining and engaging in support services for the mining industry before turning to the railroad industry. This document is from an early investment in a mining concern not far from present day Mammoth Lakes. Today the town of Bodie is a 'ghost town' preserved as part of the California State Parks system.
