LEE, CHARLES CARTER. 1798-1871. An Address on the Life, Character and Eloquence of Richard Henry Lee, Delivered Before the R.H. Lee Society of Richmond. Richmond: P.D. Bernard, 1846. 8vo (222 x 140 mm). Publisher's pink printed wrappers, soiling to wrappers, small ink stain at bottom center, slight edge wear, light foxing and toning to pages. Ink stamp rubbed out at top of front wrapper. Custom clamshell box. A discourse on founding father and statesman Richard Henry Lee of Virginia, written by another member of the extensive Lee family of Virginia. The author was the brother of future Confederate General-in-Chief Robert E. Lee; their father was Henry 'Light-Horse Harry' Lee, famed for his role as a cavalry officer in the Revolutionary War.
