A late Victorian satinwood and polychrome decorated Carlton House desk Circa 1900 Painted with five classically attired ladies in various postures seated or reclining within pastoral idylls, each within an oval oak-leaf trail surround, decorated with ribbon tied and bellflower pendant floral garlands, olive leaf swags, scrolled stylised foliage, paterae, a palmette and a pearled ribbon tied Neoclassical urn of flowers, the galleried superstructure with six short drawers, two concave doors and two concave hinged lidded and divided compartments, above a tooled leather inset writing slide, over two short frieze drawers, on four baluster turned tapering legs each headed with stiff-leaf decoration, terminating in block feet, stamped to the underside: '9785, 3222', 123cm wide x 64cm deep x 102cm high, (48in wide x 25in deep x 40in high) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue.
