Édouard Fraisse (French, 1880-1945): An Art Deco gilt and patinated bronze tazza Of dished form with ribbon tied wreath handles, the centre inset with a circular relief cast medallion depicting a stylised male athlete, the background with the outlines of four other seated and standing stylised male figures, signed E Fraisse to the right hand lower corner, on canted octagonal baluster stem and moulded domed circular base, raised on a variegated Verde Antico marble square plinth base, 24cm high, 24.5cm wide, 36cm deep Footnotes: Édouard Fraisse's sculptural work was included in the art competitions at the 1924, 1928 and 1932 summer Olympics. Although inconclusive, it is possible that the offered lot, even if not part of his documented output was influenced by the by the works that the sculptor exhibited.
