A French late 19th/early 20th century brass mounted mahogany and polished blued steel gueridon After the model by Adam Weisweiler With a circular marble top, on three twinned columnar supports, each column wrapped with an entwining laurel leaf trail mount, terminating in three splayed square section supports, stamped: '5060E', approximate diameter of the top: 36cm; 76.5cm high. Footnotes: Provenance Property of a private UK collector. The design for the present table relates to the guéridon doubles colonnettes, an innovation of the celebrated Parisian ébéniste, Adam Weisweiler (maître 1778). With the common feature being its twin 'bamboo' supports, Weisweiler produced several variations of the table, some having a porcelain or Wedgwood inset top, others inset with marble, lapis lazuli or even lacquer. Examples are known to have been supplied to Madame du Barry and the Comte Skavronsky.
