A good mid 19th century rosewood four glass mantel clock with lever platform escapement Signed James Gowland, 52 London Wall The rectangular case with bevelled glass panels over an ogee moulded base, the rear door with (possibly original) silk backing to the pierced rosewood fret, the 5.5' square silvered one-piece dial with engraved scroll corners framing the minute track and Roman hours, with blued steel fleur-de-lys hands, the twin chain fusee movement with thick plates united by five tapering pillars, the going train with maintaining power and cut and compensated bimetallic balance to a platform lever escapement, the strike train striking on a large bell, 31.5cms high This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: Y Y Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the UK, see clause 13.
