Circle of Franz Steinfeld (Austrian, 1787-1868) Alte Mühle am See (Old Mill by the Lake) unsigned; misattributed to Franz Steinfeld on a label from Antiquitäten im Palais Cavriani and Galerie im Palais Coburg, Wien, Austria (affixed to the reverse of the frame) oil on linen 42.0 x 53.0 cm (16 9/16 x 20 7/8 in). framed 56.0 x 67.0 x 3.7 cm (22 x 26 3/8 x 1 1/2 in). Footnotes: N.B. The present work appears to be a copy after Mill on Lake Hallstatt by Franz Steinfeld (Austrian, 1787-1868), which is currently held in a private Austrian collection. The primary difference between the two compositions is that the figures and boat in the present work are absent in the original.
