'Morriss Eight' Hudson Valley Fowler, dated 1732. 53 in., .74 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech, London Company of Gunmakers' proof marks and barrel maker's mark of a crown over 'IW,' the top of the barrel engraved 'Morriss Eight 1732,' and with rings 9 and 13 in. from the breech, brass blade front sight; curved convex lock plate with pointed tail and no pan bridle; cherry stock with simple relief carving round the lock mortice, side plate plateau trigger guar d, breech plug tang, entry pipe and rammer channel; brass furniture including a trigger guard with pointed finials, sheet brass butt plate with long lobed tang, flat side plate with pointed rear, three sheet brass rammer pipes and an entry pipe, sheet brass nose band; wood rammer with horn tip. Overall lg. 69 in. Condition: Barrel and lock toned to deep brown with pitting at the vent area; stock refinished and with sliver losses along the barrel channel; brass toned to yellow.
