Extensively Relief Carved Hudson Valley Fowler, c. 1760. 57 3/8 i., .77 caliber octagon to round barrel transitioning at a ring 11 in. from the breech, brass blade front sight; British commercial lock with pointed tail, single line border engraving and foliate scroll decoration, no pan bridle, the inside marked 'HOMER'; tiger maple stock with elaborate relief carving including leafy decoration around the lock mortice and side plate plateau, leafy carving around the trigger guard and entry pipe, and double line carving along the barrel and rammer channels; brass furniture including a trigger guard with pointed finials and floral engraving on the bow, butt plate with pointed tang and engraved bird and scroll decoration, flat side plate with engraved foliate scroll decoration and boar's head on the pointed tail, four sheet brass rammer pipes and an entry pipe; wood rammer. Overall lg. 73 7/8 in. Condition: Barrel and lock toned to deep brown with light pitting at the vent and pan areas, barrel may have been lengthened; stock is restored from just in front of the entry pipe to the muzzle; brass toned to yellow.
