A FINE AND RARE PLATINUM MANUAL WIND WRISTWATCH Reference: 1593 Date: c. 1955 Movement: Jeweled manual wind, No. 976857 Dial: Silvered Case: Rectangular, snap on case back, No. 699598 Strap/Bracelet: Black alligator Buckle/Clasp: Platinum buckle, signed Signed: Case, dial, and movement Size: 22.5 x 41.5mm (including lugs) Accompaniments: Maker's Extract from the Archive (on order from manufacturer) Footnotes: In 1944, Patek Philippe introduced the Reference 1593 and continued its production until 1967, with the majority cased in yellow gold and pink gold. This model, also known as 'The Hour Glass' among collectors, has distinctive flared sides that resemble the shape of an hourglass. The present example is exceptionally rare because only a few are encased in platinum, especially with round and baguette-cut diamond hour markers on the dial. Additionally, the watch remains in good condition with no signs of polishing and clear stampings on the caseback. The Reference 1593 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pp. 128 & 129, and p. 141. **Please be advised that watch straps made of materials derived from endangered or otherwise protected species (i.e. alligator and crocodile) cannot be shipped to California and outside the country of sale.
