Suite of Four Louis-Philippe Upholstered Mahogany Armchairs, Jacob-Desmalter (1803-13), Paris, France, c. 1810. Includes two fauteuils and two bergères with scrolled lotus flower crest and arm supports, the sawn elliptical front seat rails of three chairs impressed 'JACOB. D. / R. MESLEE' on bottom edge, the same three also inscribed '57123' inside seat frame, later webbing and silk damask upholstery, largest, 66cm wide, 60cm deep, 93cm high (26 1/4in wide, 24in deep, 37 1/2in high). Seat ht. 18 in. Footnotes: Provenance The collection of Eric van Rooy. Galerie Golovanoff, Paris, France, 1 April 2004.
