George III Satinwood- and Harewood-inlaid Mahogany Tea Caddy, England, c. 1775. Rectangular lid and front panel inlaid with conch shell motif enclosed in an oval reserve on mahogany ground, the edges framed with hatched and string inlay inside mitered cross-banding, that on the front continuing over front edge of recessed lid, which opens onto well divided into two uneven square compartments, one fitted to contain soda glass mixing bowl, the other having a loose cover over the plain well, which together with the inside of lid is lined with marbled paper, wd. 7 3/4, dp. 4 1/2, ht. 5 in.
