Alfred Harvey Moore (British, 1843-1905) 'Satanita fitting out' signed and dated 'A Harvey Moore/1896' (lower left); inscribed 'Santanita, fitting out, Dec-95' (verso) oil on card 19.7 x 34.6cm (7 3/4 x 13 5/8in). Footnotes: Provenance Anon. Sale, Bonhams, London, 5 September 2001, lot 244. Anon. Sale, Dreweatts, Newbury, 14 October 2015, lot 437 as 'Boat builders working in a harbour'. Private collection, UK (purchased from the above). On July 5th 1984, Satanita was due to take part in the Mud Hook Regatta in Boston. However, shortly before the race began she collided with and sunk the Valkyrie. The damage Satanita sustained meant she was unable to race. However, the regatta remained in place and the other participants were able to race without delay.
