GEOFFREY OF MONMOUTH. Britanniae utriusque regnum et principum origo & gesta insignia. [Paris]: Jodocus Badius Ascensius, 1517. 4to (194 x 134 mm). Printer's device of a printing press on title, numerous woodcut initials, colophon dated September 1517. Late 19th-century blue straight-grained morocco by H. Faulkner (with binder's paper label on front free endpaper), elaborated gilt on spine, covers decorated in gilt and blind, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Rubbed at extremities, light staining to binding, lacking final blank (N6), erased ownership inscriptions on title, some light dampstaining, browning and spotting. Provenance: Sir Thomas Edward Watson (English Baronet, 1851-1921, bookplate). Second edition. Adams G445; Renouard, Badius II, 462.
