An 18K gold key wind open face pocket watch Date: London Hallmark for 1871 Movement: Full plate English lever Dial: White Case: Polished round, No.3504, engraving 'Deus Adesto' with ship to back Signed: Movement Size: 40mm Accompaniments: Key Footnotes: The current lot belonged to James Workman Brown (1899-1962), the great nephew of James Brown who was the ship Master for the Majestic in 1840. The Majestic was the first ship built specially for George Smith & Sons shipping company, a trading ship to carry passenger and cargo from Scotland to India. The present pocket watch was engraved with a sailing ship to back, which is possibly a depiction of the Majestic.
