A Qimbaya Culture ‘retablo’ figure. Colombia ca. 1000-1400 AD.The terracotta seated figure with slab type body, arms resting on knees of extended legs, rectangular head with slit eyes and mouth, protruding curved nose, pierced through the septum with suspended ancient gold nose ring. Multiple piercings atop head. Traces of red and ochre decoration on the face, scattered mineral deposits. Provenance: From a Florida, USA private collection. Condition: Arms and legs reattached, with restoration over the break lines, some scattered minor restoration. 17cm tall. Good overall, with some mineral deposits; legs and arms professionally reattached.
