Egypt, 26th Dynasty, 600 to 400 BCE. Imhotep depicted seated and wearing a tight fitting skull cap. Elaborate beaded broad collar and long garment, holding an inscribed scroll on his lap. Well defined and toes. Imhotep was among the most important figures in Egyptian history. He was the architect for the Step Pyramid at Saqqara and was later revered as the God of Architecture as well as writing and medicine. Size: 5-1/4".
Provenance: Ex-Rutgers University professor estate, acquired before 1980.
