Cartonnage Sarcophagus Mummy Mask
Egypt, Late Ptolemaic Period, 100 to 30 BCE. Elaborately painted mummy mask with gilt face, painted eyes and eyebrows, wearing a broad collar, tripartite wig with headband and sun disk. Horus falcon above an Eye of Horus on each behind the face. Each lappet is decorated with a seated deity. Both sides of the head decorated with a winged goddess. The back decorated with a winged falcon underneath two uraei. Size: 19" including custom stand.
Provenance: Ex-Elliot Gallery, ex-private New York, New York collectiona cquired prior to 1978.
