Egyptian Polychrome Sarcophagus Ensemble
Egypt, Ptolemaic Period, ca. 315 to 150 BCE. Polychrome cartonnage ensemble in two sections. The upper section depicting a winged solar disk with uraei, disked falcon-head terminals and elaborate broad collar. The lower section depicts a kneeling winged Nut with outstretched wings and hands grasping Maat feathers. Two of the four sons of Horus depicted on each side - Imsety in human form, protector of the liver and Duamutef in jackal form, protector of the stomach. Size: Upper section measures 8" x 6-1/2"; lower section measures 8-1/2" x 5-1/2".
