The exhibition featured history of the artistic life of Leningrad from 1949-1989 and included lectures, documentaries, artist meetings, poetry and speeches by art critics. Soviet nonconformist art was Soviet art produced in the former USSR outside the control of the state during the Stalinist era and, in particular, outside of the rules of Socialist Realism; also known as Soviet counterculture, underground art or unofficial art.
