Original vintage advertising poster for the world famous 4711 Echt Kolnisch Wasser Weltberuhmt featuring an illustration of a colourful German Eau de Cologne bottle - aus der Kolnisch Wasser Fabrik Glockengasse No 4711 Koln / from the Koln water factory Glockengasse No 4711 Koln - with a bottle of the perfume decorated with Christmas tree branch and candles, the text on the bow reads - Das Festgeschenk / The festival present. The traditional original 4711 Eau de Cologne perfume water was named after its address location, created by an Italian perfume maker Johann Maria Farina (1685-1766) living in Cologne Germany in 1709; legend claims the citrus fragrance was first created in 1792 by a Carthusian monk as a miracle cure for the bubonic plague and other internal and external medical uses; 4711 Eau de Cologne is now owned by Maurer & Wirtz (since 2006). Artwork by the German painter and graphic artist Ottomar Anton (1895-1976) Good condition, staining, paper skimming, backed on board, cardboard kickstand on reverse, paper attached on reverse. Country of issue: Germany, designer: Anton, size (cm): 60x43, year of printing: 1930s.
