Description
Original vintage advertising poster for American Overseas Airlines (AOA) flights to the USA featuring the slogan There’s Always Sunshine Above the Clouds. The colourful design by Jan Le Witt (1907-1991) and George Him (1900-1981), the successful design team Lewitt-Him (1933-1955) features a propellor plane flying through blue sky above fluffy white clouds. AOA to USA is written in stylised orange and blue font, with two large yellow arrows emerging from ‘AOA’ and pointing in the direction of the aeroplane’s flight. The American Overseas Airlines logo is displayed in white across the bottom of the poster. Formerly AEA (American Export Airlines, 1937-1945) until merging with AA American Airlines, AOA ran services between USA and Europe from 1945-1950 before merging with Pan Am (now Delta Air Lines). Good condition, creasing, tears, staining on margins. Country of issue: UK, designer: Lewitt-Him, size (cm): 96x61, year of printing: 1948
