Original vintage World War Two propaganda poster - Dig For Victory - featuring a stylised illustration adapted from a prize winning design by Mary Tunbridge showing the back of a young child wearing a white sun hat, white shorts and white shirt, holding a spade in one hand and a hoe in his other hand, walking away from the viewer towards a blue background on dry and cracked ground, the text in bold black and red letters above and below. Issued by the Ministry of Agriculture at the outbreak of the Second World War, the Dig for Victory series was one of the most memorable campaigns and poster slogans encouraging Britain's home front to help the war effort that resulted in over a million tonnes of vegetables grown in gardens and allotments by 1943. Printed for Her Majesty Stationery Office by H. Manly & Son Ltd. Good condition, folded as issued, creases in margins.
