Original vintage drink advertising poster for a wine festival held in Mainz aRh / Mainz am Rhein / Mainz on the Rhine in Germany from 16-24 May 1936 in the Town Hall Adolf Hitler Platz (renamed Jockel-Fuchs-Platz; previously called Halleplatz). Striking design featuring a smiling man holding up a wine glass in front of a silhouette of the historic Mainz Cathedral (St Martin's Cathedral; founded 976) in the Old Town with the stylised gothic title text and event information below including wine tasting dates and the cost of wine from 20 pfennig. This event was created by the Nazi government to increase sales of German wine with festivals and parades organised in many towns and cities in wine growing regions; Mainz has grown wine since Roman times and hosts the annual Mainzer Weinmarkt wine market.
