The original theatre production of The Entertainer starring Olivier opened at the Royal Court on 10th April 1957 (see lot 7). These promotional images were to publicise the 1960 release of the film starring many of the actors who had been in the theatre production, including Olivier and Joan Plowright. Other actors in the film included Albert Finney, Alan Bates and Thora Hird. Olivier was nominated for an Oscar for playing the lead role Archie Rice.
