The initials D.C. refer to Douglas Cleverdon (1903-1987), the influential publisher and bookseller and later radio producer at the BBC. The first book he published was a collection of engravings by Gill, who later made a Book of Alphabets for Cleverdon. Other artists Cleverdon would collaborate with included David Jones, E.M. Forster, Virginia Woolf, T.S. Eliot and Dylan Thomas.

The Buyer must arrange collection of lots within 10 working days of the auction. Purchased lots are at the Buyer's risk from the earlier of (i) collection or (ii) 10 working days after the auction. Until risk passes, BR will compensate the Buyer for any loss or damage to the lot up to a maximum of the Purchase Price actually paid by the Buyer.
